‘바’ 라는 공간은 예부터 서구사회에서 음주를 위한 공간을 지칭하여 왔다. 근대 이후 ‘바’는 만남을 위한 공간이자 성인들의 여가생활을 위한 공간으로도 통용되어 왔다. 현대 사회에서 ‘바’라는 공간은 좁게는 위스키바, 와인바 등과 같이 특정 분위기, 혹은 특정 술 문화와 관련된 음주공간을 지칭하기도 하고, 넓게는 스시바, 커피바와 같이 ‘바’를 사이에 두고 서비스를 주고 받는 공간으로도 쓰인다.

The Bar Musk는 서비스를 주고 받기 위한 공간, 그리고 고급스럽고 은밀한 평안함을 주는 음주 공간을 지향하며 만들어졌다. 이를 위해 우리에게 익숙한 클래식 건축의 어휘를 차용한 새로운 공간, 친숙하면서도 낯선 공간이 되도록 설계되었다. 그리드 볼트 천장은 클래식한 교회건축에서 쉽게 보여지는 모습이다. 또한 기둥과 벽, 가구의 몰딩은 클래식한 공간에서 쉽게 찾을 수 있는 모습니다. 전체 공간은 이러한 장식적 건축 요소들의 조합으로 동굴 속과 같은 아늑함을 준다.

1층에 위치하면서도 의도적으로 은폐한 공간의 외부는 내부에 대한 호기심만 준다. 문을 열고 벽면을 돌아 들어가면, 8.5m의 원목 바와 기다란 동굴과 같은 공간이 한눈에 들어온다. 모든 설비와 조명이 숨겨진 클래식 볼트 천장은 전체 공간을 하나로 엮어준다. 공간 곳곳에 숨겨진 간접광은 공간을 은은하고 따뜻하게 감싸주며, 마치 술통에 들어와 있는 듯한 신비스러운 공간으로 상상하도록 만들어준다.

The space called ‘bar’ has been referring to space for drinking in western society in a long history. Since the modern era, ‘bar’ has become a space for meeting and a place for adult leisure. In the modern society, the space called ‘bar’ refers to a specific atmosphere for drinking space associated with a certain alcohol culture such as a whiskey bar or a wine bar, and broadly refers to a service space for foods or beverages such as a sushi bar or a coffee bar.

The Bar Musk was created with the aim of providing a space for service and a drinking space for luxurious and private peace. To this end, it is designed to be a novel space that is borrowed from the familiar vocabulary of classical architecture. The grid vault ceiling is easily seen in classical church architecture. Also, the moldings of pillars, walls and furniture can be easily found in a classic space today. The whole space is a combination of these decorative architectural elements, which results in the cozy feeling of a cave collectively.

Despite being located on the ground floor, the outside of space is intentionally concealed, gives only curiosity to the interior. When you open the door and turn around the wall, you will get a glimpse of an 8.5-meter-long original wooden bar and a long cave-like space. The classic vault ceiling, with all the mechanical equipment and lightings hidden, makes the whole space one. The indirect light hidden in the space surrounds the space in a soft and warm way, and makes it imagine as a mysterious space as if you are in the inside of ‘barrel’.
