과거 방배2동 주민센터는 단절과 불통의 공간 이어 왔다. 건물은 낡고 오래되었을 뿐만 아니라, 과거 행정 중심의 동주민센터의 전형적인 민원실 공간으로, 민원실은 행정공간과 주민공간이 반으로 나뉘어 단절되어 있었다. 주민들은 한 방향을 바라보고 앉고, 주민과 직원들은 멀리 떨어져서 서로를 바라보고 있는, 효율적인 행정만이 중요한 단절의 공간이었다.

본 디자인은 사방으로 개방된 징검다리와 같이 한 명, 한 명의 주민들이 이어져서, 소통과 연결의 공간을 만들어가고자 한다. 천장과 바닥에서 주민공간을 중심으로 형성된 바위 형태의 유기적 디자인은 주민들이 머무는 대기공간을 시각적으로 물리적으로 집중 되게 하였고, 직원들의 서비스 공간이 이를 둘러싸도록 하였다. 서로가 서로를 가까이 하고, 하나의 방향성 없이 자유롭게 개방된 소통의 공간으로써의 민원실이 되고자 하였다.

답답하게 꽉 막힌 외부공간은 중앙의 새로운 출입구를 기준으로 사방으로 트이게 되고, 사람들에게 보다 개방감을 준다. 접근성 좋은 1층은 오로지 주민들의 민원공간으로 환원되고, 기존의 행정팀, 동장실 등 기능적 공간은 4층의 유휴공간을 개축하여 옮겨가게 하였다.

In the past, Banbae2-dong Community Center has been a space of disconnection and severance. The building is not only old and outdated, but also a typical civil service space of the Community Center which focus on the office’s administration. The civil service space was divided into administrative space and community space. Residents gazed in one direction and the residents and public officials were looking away from each other; only the efficient administration was important.

This project aims to create a space for communication and connection by connecting one person and one person like stepping-stones that is open to all sides. The rock-shaped organic design on ceiling and floor centering on the residents’ space has become the waiting space where the residents stay visually and physically concentrated, and the staff’s service space surrounds it. They intended to be close to each other and to become a civil service room as a space of open communication without any specific directions.

The outer space, which is stuffed with frustration, is open all the way around the new entrance in the center and gives people more openness. The ground floor with good accessibility was returned to the space for the residents’ service only, and the administration space was moved to the idle space on the fourth floor.
