Tectonic Landscape is the artificial landscape fit to the exhibition space(Umi Hall) at Daegu Art Museum. The new landscape consists of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional layers, which contains the folded view of natural landscape with overlapping. The project represents a spatial drawing for Korean landscape, as well as experiential drawing which makes it possible to walk, climb, rest and play. Beyond the independent art work, it provides the space for sitting and resting to the people who visit this museum and see other art pieces.

The recycled industrial materials, 1000 pieces of plastic pallets, had been transformed to the poetic space with different assemblage logics for functional, spatial, and structural purposes. Especially, the work newly explored the screen effects which came from vertical construction of pallets. Three layers of pallets made it possible to erect the maximum 5m-height wall with varying heights. It made the dynamic screen which varies following the viewing angles and distances. The whole combination of horizontal and vertical layers folds following the c-shaped boundary of exhibition space, which leads visitors’ gaze and circulation.

Tectonic Landscape 은 대구미술관 어미홀 공간에 맞추어 구축된 인공의 지형이다. 새로운 지형은 2차원적, 3차원적 레이어들로 구성되고, 이들은 서로 겹치며 드넓게 펼쳐진 자연을 접어서 담는다. 이는 한국적 자연에 대한 공간적 산수화일 뿐만 아니라, 오르내리고, 쉬고, 걷고 즐기는 체험적 산수화이다. 또한 본 작품은 하나의 독립된 작품의 의미를 넘어서, 대구미술관 어미홀 전시 공간의 일부로서 관람객들에게 휴식과 재미, 주변 작품들의 관람 공간을 제공해준다.

재활용 산업자재인 1000 개의 플라스틱 팔레트(pallet)는, 기능적, 공간적, 구조적 목적에 맞추어 다양한 방식으로 엮이며 시적 공간을 조성한다. 특히, 본 작업은 팔레트의 수평적 구축 뿐만 아니라 수직적 구축을 통해 스크린 효과를 극대화한 실험이다. 3개의 레이어로 겹쳐진 팔레트는 높낮이를 달리하며 최대 5.5 m높이의 벽을 세울 수 있게 해주었다. 이는 바라보는 거리와 각도에 따라 투명도를 달리하며 움직임에 따라 변화하는 스크린을 만들어낸다. 전체 수평적 레이어와 수직적 레이어의 조합은 전시공간의 ㄷ자형 경계를 따라 접혀진 디자인으로 관람자의 동선과 시선의 흐름을 유도한다.
