Hide-and-Seek (숨바꼭질) : 경남도립미술관 야외 설치 프로젝트

경남도립미술관은 경남 창원의 경남도청 옆에 위치한 미술관으로, 많은 도민들과 아이들이 찾는 문화쉼터의 공간이다. 경남도립미술관은 2018년 야외프로젝트로 ‘마당:놀_이’ 전시를 기획하였고, 본 프로젝트는 재활용 파렛트를 활용하여 미술관 앞마당 야외광장에 미술관을 찾는 사람들을 위한 쉼터이자 놀이터이며, 교육 및 이벤트의 공간으로 ‘숨바꼭질’을 제안하였다.

미술관 앞마당은 거대스케일의 광장이 펼쳐져 있으나, 사람들에게는 지나가는 동선 이외에 기능으로는 쓰이지 않고 있다. 이에 반투명하게 비치는 파렛트를 활용하여 미로와 같이 아기자기한 작은 공간과 그늘을 만들어주고, 그 내부에는 외부와 분리된 작은 이벤트 공간을 만들어주었다. 따로 정해진 동선은 없으며, 사람들에게 반투명의 벽과 계단 언덕을 통해 자연스럽게 서로 숨고 발견하는 공간적 재미를 주고자 하였다.

전체 1300여개의 재활용 플라스틱 파렛트가 사용되었으며, 파렛트 벽과 바닥 하부에는 LED 조명이 매입되어 저녁이 되면 은은한 조명이 색을 바꾸며 산발적으로 점등하며 공간을 밝힌다.

Gyeongnam Provincial Museum of Art is a museum located next to the Gyeongnam Provincial Government Office in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do. It is a cultural space where many citizens and children are visiting. Gyeongnam Provincial Museum of Art planned ‘Yard: Nolita’ exhibition as an outdoor project in 2018. The project, ‘Hide and Seek’, is a resting place and a playground for people visiting the art museum in the open space of art museum front yard using the recycled pallets.

The museum front yard has a large-scale plaza, but it is not used by people other than the passing corridor. Using the screen effect as a property of pallet, we created a small space and shade like a labyrinth, and created a small event space inside. There is no fixed passway, and people experience the space fun to hide and discover each other naturally through translucent walls and stair hills.

A total of over 1,300 recycled plastic pallets are used, and LED lights are embedded in the bottom of the pallet walls and floors. In the evenings, the subtle lights change colors and light up sporadically to brighten the space.
